Venezuela seals memorandum of understanding with WFP and ratifies commitment to Agenda 2030

A Memorandum of Understanding on the provision of assistance was signed on Monday by the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela with the heads of the World Food Program (WFP), a body that is part of the United Nations (UN).

The signing of the document was carried out in the Sol del Perú room of the Miraflores Palace, after a meeting between the president, Nicolás Maduro, with the Executive director of the international body, David Beasley, at the Bolivarian Government House.

According to the document that has been signed, this Memorandum of Understanding “aims to develop the terms in which the assistance operation will be implemented in Venezuelan territory, whose operational plan is attached” to the sealed instrument.

Steps like these are part of the commitment that Venezuela has assumed with the 2030 Agenda, based on the various objectives that aim at sustainable development, and the absolute and comprehensive protection that the Venezuelan Government guarantees to the people.

The Bolivarian Revolution has advanced over the course of two decades in the consolidation of a robust system of protection and social security through missions and large missions. An example of this is that the Local Supply and Production Committees (CLAP) have a coverage of more than 6 million families in food protection in the national territory.
