Venezuela signs agreements to acquire new Russian EpiVacCorona vaccine

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela endorsed on Tuesday agreements to acquire “a new vaccine, 100% powerful, effective and safe. It’s Russia’s second vaccine EpicVacCorona,” announced President Nicolás Maduro.

At a meeting with the Russia-Venezuela High-Level Intergovernmental Commission, held at the Miraflores Presidential Palace, the Venezuelan president made the announcement in the company of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and Co-chair of the Russia-Venezuela Commission Yuri Ivanovich Borisov.

President Maduro highlighted the advantages of this important step as the laboratory producing and distributing EpicVacCorona is the same that produces insulin for Venezuela.

He pointed out that “it is the same laboratory that has brought vaccines for scientific trials in Venezuela’s institutes under the supervision of the Presidential Commission for the Prevention and Control of COVID-19 and the Health Ministry.”

The Venezuelan president stressed that “We are already undertaking the logistics for another Russian vaccine. What can we say? Thank you, Russia!”

Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov is paying an official visit to Venezuela to ratify the strategic cooperation alliance between the two countries.

Earlier, the Russian official held working meetings with the Venezuelan Oil minister Tareck El Aissami to create the 2021-2031 bilateral cooperation agenda.
