This Monday, the People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations, Jorge Arreaza, held a cordial meeting with the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and for Ibero-America and the Caribbean of the Kingdom of Spain, Cristina Gallach Figueras, on the occasion of the one hundred seventy-sixth anniversary of the establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Venezuela and Spain.
The meeting was conducive to diplomats recognizing their status as sovereign, free and independent states; and they will review bilateral relations aiming to regain the level of cooperation.
In the same way, it served for Foreign Minister Arreaza to reiterate the will of the Bolivarian Government to maintain and promote constructive relations with Spain and in general with Europe, in which trust and mutual respect prevail, for the construction of a global, free, just and sovereign society.
Along the same lines, the Head of Venezuelan diplomacy highlighted the brotherhood and well-being wishes for the Spanish people, especially the large Spanish community that resides in the Bolivarian Homeland who contribute with their tenacity and constant work to the economic development of the country.
It should be noted that during the meeting Minister Arreaza demanded the cessation of unilateral coercive measures against Venezuela by the European bloc, due to its devastating and evident effects in the fight against COVID-19.

The high diplomat of the Kingdom of Spain arrived in Venezuela this Sunday, after touring several Central American countries, and will focus her agenda on learning about Venezuela’s humanitarian response to the COVID-19 pandemic and supporting the national dialogue process that the Bolivarian Government promotes.
