This Wednesday, the Vice-minister for Africa of the People’s Power Ministry for Foreign Relations, Yuri Pimentel, held a meeting with the ambassador of the Republic of Sudan accredited to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Eltayeb Abuelgassim.
At the meeting that took place at the headquarters of the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry, both authorities made a global balance of the COVID-19 pandemic and the current situation in their countries.
On this particular issue, they discussed the agreements undertaken to obtain access to vaccines for the Venezuelan and Sudanese people; as well as the threat posed by the spread of the new Brazilian strain in the Latin American region.
They also discussed the initiative undertaken by the Group of Friends in Defense of the UN Charter that is being proposed from the headquarters of the multilateral organization in New York, to defend the principles of an inclusive and effective multilateralism.
In recent days, Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza, on behalf of the Venezuelan Government, called on all states that respect the principles and purposes of the UN to be part of this group.
“Venezuela, as one of its founding countries, shares the call for all States that respect the principles and purposes of the UN to join. Strengthening multilateralism is essential”, emphasized the Minister of Foreign Relations through his Twitter account @jaarreaza.
