Venezuela and Tunisia propose cooperation and exchange in the field of musical training

Representatives of the National Experimental University of the Arts (Unearte) of Venezuela and the Higher Institute of Music of Tunisia, held this Wednesday a videoconference to strengthen ties of cooperation and exchange between both academic institutions, reactivating the work plans developed jointly by the two countries in the musical field, which were interrupted by the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The telematic meeting included the participation of Ikbal Hamzaoui, Music Training Coordinator of the Higher Institute of Music of Tunisia; Rosaura Sierra, director of Internationals at Unearte; and Carlos Feo, ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in the Tunisian Republic.

He stated that there are many bilateral activities in the cultural area that can be held remotely, through technological tools, while overcoming the global health crisis.

For her part, the coordinator of Music Training of the Tunisian institute proposed to study the possibility of exchange with Venezuela for the training of Tunisian teachers, after highlighting that since the 90s many musical educators, specifically of air instruments such as trombone and trumpet, migrated from the country, leaving a lack in this sector.

Likewise, she stressed that the training of teachers in conducting orchestras is of interest to her institution and proposed to work on the implementation of traditional Venezuelan music workshops.

In this sense, the academic authorities of Venezuela and Tunisia agreed to advance in the adoption of a cooperation plan in the musical area, in addition to developing proposals for the exchange of teachers, students and researchers in this sector.

Finally, they proposed to prepare a next meeting by videoconference -tentatively on March 17- between the Coordinator of Music Training of the Higher Institute of Music of Tunisia and the Coordinator of the National Program of Music Training of Unearte.
