This Wednesday, 20 thousand doses of the Covid-19 Chinese vaccine -Sinopharm- were transported to the Commonwealth of Dominica, through the air bridge recently established by the ALBA-TCP and with the financial support of the ALBA Bank.
The transfer was made thanks to the existing correlation with the Venezuelan Consortium of Aeronautical Industries and Air Services (Conviasa).
The Chinese state pharmaceutical Sinopharm reported a high level of antibodies against the virus, at a rate of 99.52% for people who receive two doses of this vaccine.
Last January, the executive president of the ALBA Bank, Raúl Li Causi, announced, during a Meeting of the ALBA-TCP Social Council, that the monetary funds of the Post-Pandemic Work Plan 2021 were aviable, approved in previous months for the creation of a Humanitarian Fund for the purchase of treatments and vaccines, among other actions of common interest.
On that occasion, the member states agreed to establish an airlift for the safe transfer of medicines that are acquired through the Humanitarian Fund.
“In different phases, we will provide the financial support that the eastern Caribbean countries, such as Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada and Saint Kitts and Nevis will need”, he said.
