The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro Moros, held a meeting on Tuesday with the Secretary General of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), Sacha Llorenti.
The meeting reviewed the initiatives born from ALBA to deal with the pandemic caused by COVID-19 in the region, among which, the creation of a humanitarian fund by the countries attached to the body to obtain vaccines in a equitable way is highlighted.
During the meeting, the Venezuelan President stressed that no one should feel orphaned or unprotected because ALBA is putting together a structure for the relaunch of various health programs.
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the 10 most powerful countries in the world have captured 75 percent of vaccines against the disease; Faced with this, ALBA marks a different scheme for the distribution of doses in order to guarantee the fundamental right to health of the peoples.
In recent days, the president of the ALBA Bank, Raúl Li Causi, announced that the Social Council of the integration body also agreed to create a medicine bank.
The conversation took place in the city of Caracas, where the first combatant and deputy to the National Assembly, Cilia Flores, the Executive Vice-president of the Republic, Delcy Rodriguez, and the Minister for Foreign Relations, Jorge Arreaza, were also present.
