In the framework of cooperation between the Venezuelan State and the United Nations System, the Vice-minister for Multilateral Issues of the People’s Power Ministry for Foreign Relations, Daniela Rodríguez, held a meeting this Friday with representatives of the United Nations Fund for the Infancia (Unicef), with whom she evaluated proposals to strengthen and improve coordination between both parties, in order to optimize the care of the populations subject to the scope of action of this multilateral agency.
In the meeting, held at the administrative headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Relations, on behalf of the Unicef participated: Herve Ludovic De Lys, representative in Venezuela; Javier Álvarez, deputy representative of Projects and Nathalie Withofs, deputy representative of Operations.
Vice-minister Rodríguez indicated that she also consulted details about some modalities of humanitarian assistance and support for vulnerable populations by UNICEF, in order to guarantee the consent and support of the Venezuelan State and respect for national laws and institutions.
She indicated that they also reviewed some cooperation issues related to the Unicef work program for this year 2021 and for the formulation schedule of the Fund’s Country Agenda, offering possibilities to promote some exchanges with other institutions to have the general map of cooperation.
The Venezuelan State maintains close ties of cooperation and humanitarian assistance with the United Nations System, which have resulted in benefits for the people in terms of facing the COVID-19 pandemic and mitigating the devastating effects of the unilateral coercive measures imposed by western imperialism, in the quality of life of the population.
