The president of the Executive Board of the Bank of ALBA, Raúl Li Causi, reported this Thursday that a revolving credit line will be available to the Eastern Caribbean countries that make up the ALBA-TCP, to support small producers in the agri-food sector by an amount of 200 thousand dollars.
The announcement was made during the Meeting of High Authorities of the Agriculture area of the regional platform, held in the afternoon to discuss strategies and joint response actions to guarantee the production and distribution of food in each of the countries that comprise it.
The president of the financial entity also communicated about the financing of projects with the airlines Conviasa and LIAT that will increase the potential for agricultural exports throughout the Caribbean region, with the creation of new routes for the import and export of food.
“The financing of the institution has been aimed at increasing the capacities that the ALBA countries require to strengthen the logistical dimensions that facilitate food sovereignty”, he added.
The High Authorities meeting was held as contemplated in the XVIII ALBA-TCP Summit held in December 2020, in which the reactivation of the Alba Alimentos Program was agreed, as part of the 2021 Post-pandemic Work Plan.
