Venezuela is the target of imperial geopolitical interests

Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza asserted Venezuela is today the target of the political interests of US-led imperialism.

In an exclusive interview with Prensa Latina news agency, the head of the Venezuelan diplomacy explained his view on the Bolivarian Government’s future relations with the current U.S. administration.

In this regard, he explained that they do not even depend on the U.S. ruling elite, or whoever sits at the White House, because its essence is imperialism.

“It is a network, a gear of corporate, military, industrial technological and financial interests that work through political bodies such as the U.S. Government. So, as we are aware that their goal is to control Venezuela to satisfy their own interests, it’s little what we can expect,” he stressed.

To us, he said, as we have been in power as a Revolution for 22 years, the relation and interaction with Washington’s ruling elite is a learning experience, and we can easily reach the conclusion that imperialism is only one, and it’s not even the United States alone.

Nevertheless, he asserted Venezuela’s politics and resistance are so strong that the new U.S. Government may not find it valid or useful to pursue further aggressions.

“In that event, we will always be willing to dialogue and listen, to cooperate on the basis of mutual respect. If the United States wants to, we will want to; and if it doesn’t want to, we will defeat them anyway.”

Likewise, Arreaza recalled that the great powers have an ideological, geopolitical interest because Venezuela’s former governments were always servile to those interests and enabled the looting of large resources. This changed when the Revolution triumphed.

“There are large lobbies whose imperial interest is to overthrow the Socialist Revolution and take the country’s political, economic and cultural control in order to eliminate the identity of Venezuelans and have the jewel in the crown of the 21st Century America in their hands.”

Therefore, Foreign Minister Arreaza stressed that denouncing the illegality of the U.S. blockade will always be one of the main issues of Venezuela’s foreign policy, and just like Cuba has done it for over 60 years, it is necessary to insist again and again that it is an aggression and a damage against the Venezuelan people.

“These coercive, unilateral, arbitrary measures that lead to blockades are outside international law. They are criminal,” said Arreaza.

The Venezuelan foreign minister pointed out that every day countries become aware of the damage caused by these punitive actions and perceive the need of facing and denouncing them.

Arreaza asserted that if all the governments suffering the consequences of Washington’s aggressive, hostile policy work together, there is hope that international organizations will condemn them soon.

Regarding the lawsuit against the United States filed in the International Criminal Court (ICC), Arreaza said that it aims to accuse U.S. government’s officials who signed executive orders.

“The ICC acts on individual responsibilities, that’s why we have presented evidence that these measures have caused hunger, death and disease. We are representing all those nations that have been imposed these sanctions,” said Arreaza.

The Venezuelan diplomat explained that the process filed on February 13, 2020, is currently under evaluation by the ICC Prosecutor’s Office, which must rule this year and determine if it should go to the court to evaluate and impose individual responsibilities on those who have attacked Venezuela.

“It is a great responsibility, because the Venezuelan case is not only for Venezuela; it can set a precedent, and we trust justice is done. We have no other option but to trust,” said Foreign Mister Arreaza.
