Bolivarian Government rejects editorial attacks by German broadcaster Deutsche Welle

On his Twitter account @jaarreaza, the Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs Jorge Arreaza informed on Wednesday he sent a letter to Peter Limbourg, director general of German broadcaster Deutsche Welle (DW), “calling on him to reflect on their sustained and biased editorial attacks against Venezuela.”

The Venezuelan foreign minister described the response of the German broadcaster’s director as “barely reflective,” and posted the letter sent on January 26, rejecting the DW’s editorial line against his country as it violates “the most basic principles of journalism such as separating facts from opinions, contrasting information, and objectivity.”

In his letter, Arreaza explained the German broadcaster, under Limbourg’s direction, has chosen a news coverage of Venezuela marked by fake news, symbolic violence, whitewashing those responsible for the multiple aggressions against the Venezuelan people and downplaying the economic, financial, commercial blockade imposed by the U.S. Government and its allied servile countries.

Foreign Minister Arreaza claimed this unethical news coverage only seeks to undermine Venezuela’s pubic image.

In his letter, the Venezuelan diplomat provided the recipient with a background to the warmongering culture that has standardized information as a political weapon. Likewise, he explained and debunked the German broadcaster’s reports on Venezuela by breaking down its intentional mistakes and misrepresentations.

Finally, Foreign Minister Arreaza invited DW’s director general to review their editorial line against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, pursue a greater journalistic rigor, investigate and contrast information.
