President Maduro to Biden: ‘I hope you won’t take on the supremacist legacy against Venezuela’

“I wish you luck with the proper handling of your country’s affairs. I wish you luck with the proper handling of new politics of peace, and I hope, without a doubt, you won’t take on the cruel supremacist legacy against Venezuela as yours, and you rectify policies on Venezuela,” stressed the President if the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro.

On Wednesday, Joe Biden took office as President of the United States, and the Venezuelan president expressed his wishes for this new term starting on January 20.

“Today, Biden talked about the United States issues, focusing on the division of the United States. He talked about racism and its aftermath, and about the pandemic that has caused the death of 400 people in that nation. He talked about the role and leadership of the United States,” said the Venezuelan president at the 2019-2020 National Culture Award.

President Maduro pointed out that Venezuelan would applaud if Biden rectified the U.S. policies on the South American nation.

“Venezuela would applaud and we, as good Bolivarians, have to say that we are ready, from our rebelliousness, honor and dignity, to reach out to anyone who wants to see us, listen to us and respect us,” said the Venezuelan president.

President Maduro remarked that while other nations are losing the fight against coronavirus, Venezuela relies on the 7×7 scheme that has produced good results.

Nevertheless, when affirming that the Venezuelan health authorities are fighting a hard battle against COVID-19 and a spike in the number of cases in the last days, he called on the people to “follow the 7×7 with responsibility” because “it has enabled us to ease some restrictions to guarantee social, economic and cultural life with biosecurity measures. It also forces us to take care of each other and break the transmission chain of coronavirus.”
