The Head of State and Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, announced the installation and declaration in a permanent session of the Defense Council of the Nation and State in defense of Guayana Esequiba.
“Today we have convened to officially install the permanent and joint session of the nation’s defense council with the Council of State to attend to everything that has to do with the infamous, unfair and unlawful decision that the International Court of Justice took against Venezuela in relation to the issue of Guayana Esequiba on December 18, 2020”, he declared.
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) issued a ruling in terms of consent to have jurisdiction not provided by Venezuela on the unilateral claim filed by the Cooperative Republic of Guyana on the validity of the Arbitration Award of 1899, which Venezuela rejected for it violates and contravenes the 1966 Geneva Agreement.
In this regard, the national leader reported that the Venezuelan State will hold a large national consultation at all levels to file appeals, to start new negotiations for the recovery of Guayana Esequiba.
The purpose is “to strengthen the position of Venezuela before international organizations, the defense of our country and our historical rights over Guayana Esequiba, so I call it to be”, he emphasized.
