COVID-19 cases amount to 1,010 in Venezuela after detecting 66 new infections

«We want to report that in the last 24 hours 6 cases of community transmission have been registered throughout the national territory (…) -and also- of those who are returning to Venezuela, nationals deprived of humanitarian attention who return to their homeland, 60 imported cases have been counted”, reported the Executive Vice-president, Delcy Rodríguez.
In this way, there are 1,010 cases in the country, said the high official on Saturday night from the Government Palace, offering the daily part of the statistics of the new coronavirus in Venezuela. Of the 60 imported cases or by international contact, 13 are due to contact with an international traveler, 28 of people from Brazil, 15 from Colombia, 3 from Chile and 1 from Ecuador; the other 6 have as background the community transmission. 74 percent of infections in the country are imported cases, explained the Vice-president, detailing that of the total number of infections, 601 records are from international travelers, while 149 cases have been due to international contact and 260 due to community outreach. She also reported that 48 thousand 17 Venezuelans have entered through the border states: Táchira, Apure, Bolívar, Amazonas and Zulia. To date, Venezuela has 738 active cases, after the recovery of 25.9 percent of infections, that is, 262 people, and the number of deaths remains at 10. Venezuela continues as a vanguard country in the Latin American and Caribbean region in carrying out tests applied to detect the virus. To date, 771 thousand 276 tests have been carried out, which is equivalent to 25 thousand 709 tests per million inhabitants.
