Venezuela rejects U.S. maneuvering to interfere in parliamentary elections
The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela once again denounces before the international community the interventionist aggressions of the supremacist government of Washington which, in violation to International Law, intends to illegally impose unilateral coercive measures against the Venezuelan democratic institutions, in particular by trying to interfere in the holding of the parliamentary elections set in the Constitution for December 2020.
It is clear that the sacred value of democracy is nothing more than the empty rhetoric for a government that claims to be its main defender in the world. With these illegal measures, the Trump Administration seeks to prevent the inevitable. No amount of outside pressure can prevent the Venezuelan people from exercising their right to vote and deciding their destiny in a sovereign manner.
This aggression against the President of the National Electoral Council (CNE), two of its principal rectors and the Attorney-General of the Republic, will not make any dent in the commitment of the institutions of the Venezuelan State to guarantee the fulfillment of the constitutional and legal provisions and the will of the people. On the contrary, these alleged sanctions represent an additional stimulus to advance more effectively and morally towards the electoral objectives and goals.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela firmly rejects this attempt against its sovereignty and patrimonial integrity. The Venezuelan society will face together this new aggression coming from an empire in frank decadence, which repeatedly stumbles upon the dignity of the sons and daughters of Simón Bolívar. The Venezuelan people is a free and independent people, determined to build its own future in democracy and peace. Non threat tied to despair and failure of the White House will stop the full exercise of our democratic guarantees.
