The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela would like to express its rejection of the official statements made by the High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, who expressed her concern on the election of Venezuela to the Human Rights Council of the United Nations (UN).
No declaration against the legitimate election of our country to this council will be able to overshadow the victory obtained with absolute adherence to democratic standards of the United Nations, the maximum multilateral organization, to which, as Venezuela, all EU members belong.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, in line with its policy of promotion and respect for human rights, invites European countries to review their actions on this matter, especially, with regard to the excessive use of force to repress public demonstrations inherent in the turbulent situation in Europe, as well as the use of justice systems for political purposes and the outrageous situation of migrants as a result of war actions promoted by the European Union in other brotherly continents.
This Venezuelan government and people’s victory denotes a commitment and emphasizes the joint effort of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela with the international community which has largely put its trust in the Bolivarian government of Venezuela on human rights.
