Venezuela rejects expulsion of its Ambassador in Ecuador
The Office of the Deputy Minister for Latin America of the People’s Power Ministry for Foreign Relations on behalf of the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has learned about the outrageous decision of the Government of the Republic of Ecuador to declare the Ambassador of Venezuela as persona non grata in said country. In this regard, it hereby states the following:
It has drawn our attention, the intolerant and disproportionate reaction of the Government of Ecuador after the scientific and rational debunking of the unusual figures on the migration of Venezuelan citizens –mentioned by the President of Ecuador, Lenin Moreno, on September 25th at the United Nations Headquarters– performed by the Minister of Communication and Information, Jorge Rodriguez.
From the sacred rostrum of the United Nations, the president of Ecuador dedicated a quarter of the time of his speech to lie about the reality of the migratory phenomenon –as an unprecedented act of aggression against Venezuela. He lied about the quantity of Venezuelan migrants, mentioning a biased number that exceeds all feasibility by force of logic. He also lied about the alleged and never proven attention given to Venezuelans from his Government. He lied about the health conditions of Venezuelans who travel through the Ecuadorian territory and attacked with tendentious slander the good repute and popular character of the Bolivarian Government of Venezuela.
It is evident that all this fallacious and hostile argument, and this unusual act of aggression that jeopardize the historical relations of brotherhood between the two Bolivarian countries; are mere consequence of the new role assigned to the Ecuadorian government –following the visit of the Vice-president of the United States– in the implementation of the plan designed by Washington and executed by some submissive governments in the region, with the aim at forcing an unconstitutional change of regime in Venezuela.
Under these circumstances, the Bolivarian Government of Venezuela categorically rejects the systematic interference in its affairs by President Lenin Moreno and the expulsion of the Venezuelan Ambassador in Quito. In addition, because of these facts the Government of Venezuela is compelled to take reciprocal action against the Charge d’Affaires of Ecuador in Venezuela, Elizabeth Mendez, who is hereby declared persona non grata and has 72 hours to leave the country.
