Venezuela expresses its regret over the death of Nicaraguan poet Ernesto Cardenal
President Nicolás Maduro Moros, on behalf of the people and Government of Venezuela, expresses his condolences to the people and government of Nicaragua, for the death of Ernesto Cardenal Martínez, the Trappist poet of Solentiname, who always drew inspiration from nature, from men, women and in love of God to create his extensive and unique poetic work, forged in the heat of revolutionaries struggles.
In expressing its condolences to family and loved ones of the poet of the Theology of Liberation, Venezuela emphasizes the cultural and literary contributions of Ernesto Cardenal, which earned him the admiration of the humble peoples, as well as numerous awards and recognitions from Governments and Cultural Organizations worldwide and regionally.
His poetic and intellectual legacy represents a true pride for the Nicaraguan people, a land of exceptional poets and brave activist of life, as well as for all of Our Latin America and the Caribbean.
