Venezuela denounces to the international community assault on its Embassy in Brazil
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela denounces to the international community that today its Embassy in the Federative Republic of Brazil has been assaulted by violent groups fond of the Venezuelan political opposition, who have forcibly invaded the headquarters of the diplomatic mission in Brasilia, in the face of the passive attitude of the Brazilian police authorities, in disregard of their obligations to protect the diplomatic offices and their staff.
Venezuela alerts about the false information that the assailants have circulated through different media, implying that their illegal and violent actions have been carried out with the approval of Venezuelan diplomatic staff, a statement that is absolutely untruthful, and there is nothing to be sought but trying to mitigate their responsibilities in the face of the crimes committed.
The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela demands that the Government of the Federative Republic of Brazil comply with its obligations as a State part of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which establishes the obligation to protect diplomatic seats in all circumstances. To that end, the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela orders the Government to take immediate steps to evict the aggressors from the vicinity of the Embassy, to issue the bonds and to put an end to the unacceptable situation of harassment to which Venezuelan diplomatic staff in Brasilia are being exposed.
The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela will continue to monitor in detail the evolution of this unusual situation and complies with its denunciation to the international community.
