ALBA-TCP rejects the vile attack by the US government against President Maduro, officials and the people of Venezuela
The countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – Peoples’ Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) strongly condemn the unfounded, infamous and disgraceful accusation by the Government of the United States of America which, through the Department of Justice, supported by its Prosecutor General William Barr, has filed formal charges against the Constitutional President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro Moros, and senior officials of the Bolivarian Government; in flagrant violation of International Law and the principles enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations.
This action by the supremacist White House government, based on its policy of changing the government by force in Venezuela, is doomed to failure, as has happened on several occasions. The desperation of Donald Trump’s administration is a reflection of the peace that reigns today in Venezuela, whose authorities have managed to neutralize the coup and destabilizing attempts planned and financed by the United States.
Thus the Government of the United States reiterates once again its contempt for International Law, for the principles embodied within the United Nations Charter, at a time when the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, and the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, have called for the lifting of the sanctions imposed on different countries to facilitate the attention to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Based on this aggression, the Government of the United States intends to open a media front to distract and sabotage the effort of the Bolivarian Government in the fight against Covid-19, just as they have done against the medical solidarity of the Government of the Republic of Cuba, which is why we call on the peoples of the world to speak out against such treachery and immorality.
The ALBA-TCP expresses its strongest and unconditional support to President Nicolas Maduro, to the civil and military officials and to the people of Venezuela, for standing strong to their ideas of freedom and sovereignty, inherited from the Liberator Simon Bolivar. They are an example to be followed by the peoples of the world.
