“Colombia leads by far the number of internally displaced persons in the world (…) and is the country with the largest number of migrants in South America,” said the official, referring to the more than five million Colombians living in Venezuela.

After contrasting the migratory flow between Caracas and Bogotá, Vice President Rodríguez also denounced the construction of an international matrix that seeks to justify the intervention of Venezuela, under the pretext of “humanitarian crisis”.

“What there is against Venezuela is a great operation that responds to the policy of the Pentagon of the United States of America (…) There is no such situation of humanitarian crisis in Venezuela and we will not tire of saying and denouncing it. Venezuelans are in charge of Venezuela” she added, dismissing the international campaign on Venezuelan migrants.

Consequences of the coercive measures imposed by Washington

In her statements to the media, the Vice President of Venezuela also cited the consequences of the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States Government against the oil country.

“They promote hyperinflation and shortages to affect our people through economic war,” he specified.

In this regard, she stressed that this issue should be addressed by both, the Secretary General of the United Nations and the multilateral system of the UN.

The Venezuelan side also denounced in the meeting the harassment to which Venezuelan migrants have been subjected in countries of the region, whose numbers she urged to sincere, in addition to the pressures to declare themselves as refugees before the UNHCR.
