Venezuela reiterates its integrationist commitment in the 46th Latin American Council of SELA

The Vice-minister for Multilateral Issues of the People’s Power Ministry for Foreign Relations, Daniela Rodríguez, ratified this Tuesday the commitment of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and President Nicolás Maduro with the integration of the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean, and with the promotion of regional cooperation.

During her participation in the 46th Ordinary Meeting of the Latin American Council of SELA, the Venezuelan diplomat also reiterated her condemnation to the unilateral coercive measures, misnamed sanctions, imposed by the United States, because they represent the main obstacle to the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

On the other hand, she stressed that Venezuela is leading the creation of a Committee on Migration Issues to address this issue “from a comprehensive perspective, without politicization and considering the fundamental rights of our Latin American and Caribbean peoples.”

This initiative, promoted by Venezuela and presented in previous meetings, aims to study the structural and conjunctural elements that generate migratory processes, through an Action Committee in accordance with article 20 of the Panama Convention that constitutes the Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA).

The Ministerial Session of SELA was installed this Tuesday and was led by the permanent secretary of the organization, Javier Paulinich, and attended as speakers by the new president of the 46th Ordinary Meeting of the Latin American Council of SELA, Mauricio Vizcaíno, Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. from the Mexican Embassy in Venezuela.
