Government of Venezuela retakes control of its Embassy in Bolivia

The constitutional Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, with the accompaniment of a group of Bolivian social movements, this Monday regained possession of the Venezuelan Embassy in the Plurinational State of Bolivia, which was attacked after the coup against President Evo Morales at the end of 2019.

The act of redress was headed by the People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations, Jorge Arreaza, who denounced that the facilities had been taken illegally, then looted and entirety dismantled by factors of the Venezuelan opposition -which had the support of the de facto government-.

“Here they entered and dismantled it, here there is not a computer left, there is not a server, a stamp, a painting of Bolívar. They took books, computers, works of art”, denounced the Venezuelan Foreign Minister from the Venezuelan diplomatic headquarters in La Paz.

In November 2019, a group of hooded men attacked the Embassy in the midst of a violent coup attack, after the Armed Forces and the Police publicly requested the resignation of President Evo Morales.

New stage

During the resumption of the diplomatic headquarters, the Head of Venezuelan diplomacy affirmed that relations between Bolivia and Venezuela will be retaken and taken to a new level of cooperation.

“We are going to a new stage with Bolivia, just as we retake our Embassy, we also retake our relationship with Bolivia; all economic, commercial and political projects. We are going to coordinate again in multilateral bodies and fight against the destruction of the environment. Let’s go together!”, he stressed.

He also specified that for this historical moment, the unity of the governments and peoples of Our America, ALBA and Unasur is fundamental; but also the unity of the social movements to give way to the revolutionary processes.

“We had the most absolute certainty that the Bolivian people were going to reverse this terrible reality (…) Our comrade Evo Morales is the father of all these processes that are taking place, without his leadership we would not have gotten this far either, to Evo we surrender our love and our perpetual homage as a great historical leader”, he said.
