Foreign Minister Arreaza held a telematic meeting with his counterpart from Guinea-Bissau to strengthen bilateral relations

The People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations, Jorge Arreaza, held on Tuesday a telematic meeting with the Minister of Foreign Business, International Cooperation and Communities of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, Suzi Barbosa, with the aim of coordinating the next activation of a Joint Commission, once the COVID-19 pandemic is over, to strengthen bilateral relations.

During the meeting, both diplomatic authorities identified different areas of bilateral cooperation, such as education, oil and agriculture, and ratified joint work in the multilateral sphere in international bodies such as the United Nations (UN), also reviewing the signed agreements between the two nations in matters of training and health.

Through his account on the social network Twitter, @jaarreaza, the Head of Venezuelan diplomacy stressed that “there are many joint projects in development and to be developed”, in a history of relationships that was consolidated in 2006 thanks to integration work promoted by the leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Chávez, with the peoples of Africa.

Venezuela and Guinea-Bissau agreed in 2015 to abolish visas to enter the African nation, as well as the certification of degrees and diplomas of university education.

In 2016, the then Prime Minister of Guinea-Bissau, Carlos Correia, visited Venezuela with the purpose of signing various bilateral agreements, for which 13 existing agreements were taken into account in the areas of science and technology, communication and information, anti-drug cooperation, energy, health, education, agriculture, mining and development of basic industries.

Ties of brotherhood and cooperation have been established between the peoples of the African continent and Venezuela contributing to the strengthening of South-South relations with the aim of establishing a new multipolar dynamic in international politics.
