185 Venezuelans return home from Italy via Plan Vuelta a la Patria

A total of 185 Venezuelan nationals returned on Saturday on the first flight of Plan Vuelta a la Patria to the Italian Republic, and were received by Vice-minister for Europe of the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry, Yván Gil.

At the Simón Bolívar International Airport, the Venezuelan vice-minister said that some Venezuelans stranded in France, Spain, Turkey and Japan also went to Italy to take this flight and return home.

“Conviasa (Venezuela’s state-run airline) has made an enormous effort to overcome sanctions and assist these Venezuelans (…) We are very happy since Plan Vuelta a la Patria has managed to return around 20,000 Venezuelans. Our arms are open for all Venezuelans who wish to return.” He stressed.

The Italian Republics was the European country most affected by COVID-19 when the pandemic started and became the epicenter of it.

This flight involves a great effort by the Bolivarian Government and the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry to respond the requests of hundreds of Venezuelans who were stranded due to the sanitary contingency in this European country.
