Venezuela creates International Center with Anti-Blockade Law to protect large-scale investments

The Executive Vice-president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, and the People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations, Jorge Arreaza, presented this Tuesday before the diplomatic corps accredited in the country and the Venezuelan ambassadors in the world, the Anti-Blockade Law approved on October 8 by the National Constituent Assembly (ANC).

Through videoconference, from the Simón Bolívar Room of the Miraflores Palace, in Caracas, the Venezuelan authorities exposed the content of this legal instrument known to the diplomatic delegations, promoted by President Nicolás Maduro, to combat the repeated attacks carried out by the Government of the United States against the economic stability of the people and the sovereignty of Venezuela.

Socialism vs. Capitalism

The Executive Vice-president pointed out that after the arrival of the Bolivarian Revolution and Commander Hugo Chávez, in 1998 Venezuela began a process of changes and focused on the construction of the socialist model, which strengthens social equality, being the object of multiple recognitions throughout history, standing in the way of the dominance interests of US governments.

In this sense, she recalled that between 2015 and 2019 the Venezuelan model was recognized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in the fight against hunger, to the point of creating the FAO Hugo Chávez program, serving as an example to follow in other countries.

She pointed out that in 2018 the South American nation was awarded the Habitat award in recognition of the Gran Misión Vivienda Venezuela (GMVV), a model that was built based on oil income, on the foreign exchange earnings that the country had and that were more than 800 billion dollars, which were invested for the national and social development of Venezuela.

“Since 2015 we are facing sanctions and now this infrahuman blockade. The United States wants to suffocate Venezuela. Furthermore, we are facing this COVID-19 pandemic with these conditions of crimes against humanity”, added the Executive Vice-president.

Investment protection

Vice-president Rodríguez also announced the decision of President Nicolás Maduro to create an International Investment Center with the Anti-Blockage Law to protect productive investments, an instance that will have a basket of projects that will be presented for international investment, projects in the oil and mining area, gas, agriculture, tourism and all the areas where Venezuela has great potential to generate investment on a large scale.

She explained that this Center will also have an observatory of coercive and unilateral measures, so that the country is aware of each illegal sanction issued by the United States Government, in order to protect the population. It will also have the Country Brand Institute, in defense and promotion of the Venezuelan products and the identity of the people.

For his part, Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza assured that the Anti-Blockade Law will be very useful for trade relations between the South American nation and the countries of the world, counteracting the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States Government, highlighting the importance of making the international comunity know the content of this tool “to promote investments in Venezuela, to guarantee legal and information security to investors of their countries.”

Finally, the Head of Venezuelan diplomacy indicated that “this legislation allows us to face the continued economic aggression against our country, especially in the last 5 years, from the United States,” making it difficult for “the development of the Venezuelan economy and its international trade.”
