More than 300 Venezuelans arrive from Mexico, Uruguay thanks to Plan Vuelta a la Patria

On Thursday, more than 300 nationals return to Venezuela from Mexico and Uruguay on special, simultaneous flights of the Plan Vuelta a la Patria program.

Due to the contingency measures adopted in airports to prevent novel coronavirus, hundreds of Venezuelans had been stranded, and others are waiting to return from different Latin American countries.

However, President Nicolás Maduro, in coordination with the Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, approved special flights in September as a response to a high number of requests.

The repatriation of 247 Venezuelans from Mexico and 88 from Uruguay was possible thanks to a flight of the Venezuelan Consortium of Aeronautics Industries and Air Services (Conviasa, Spanish acronym).

Conviasa’s president, Ramón Velásquez, praised the Venezuelan president’s work.

“Thanks to the humanitarian mission of the Plan Vuelta a la Patria and our President, Nicolás Maduro, and his commitment to helping citizens who want to return to their country,” posted Velásquez on his Twitter account @rvaraguayan.

In recent days, Conviasa flew more than 200 Venezuelans from Panama, the Dominican Republic, Mexico and the United States.
