Venezuelan State presents report “The truth about Venezuela against the infamy of the Lima Group”

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela presented this Wednesday to national and international public opinion a report called The truth of Venezuela against the infamy of the Lima Group, a document that systematizes the human rights violations committed by those who promote violence against women, in contrast to the report prepared by supposed paid “experts” from an “independent” international mission to defame the Venezuelan State.

At a press conference from the headquarters of the Public Ministry, which had the participation of the Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab; the People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations, Jorge Arreaza; the Ombudsman, Alfredo Ruiz; and the Executive secretary of the National Human Rights Council, Larry Devoe; they released the joint document “made by human rights activists on the ground.”

Regarding the de facto report of the mission of alleged human rights experts, the Attorney General pointed out that it was aimed at “dynamiting and imploding the work done by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (…) It is a text prepared by an ad hoc commission paid by the Lima Group which, as we well know, is an enemy of the people of Venezuela”, he declared.

Prosecutor William Saab said that the Venezuelan State has accused a total of 811 officials and 129 civilians for violation of human rights, which calls into question the report presented by the Lima Group on this matter.

He assured that the Public Ministry (MP) has charged 603 state security officials, for being allegedly responsible for human rights violations and 35 civilians implicated as collaborators in these events. He added that 638 people have been charged for the crimes of homicide, torture, cruel treatment, inhuman or degrading treatment, unlawful deprivation of liberty, and violations of the home.

On the other hand, Foreign Minister Arreaza assured that no instance of the United Nations Organization (UN) approved the report made by the supposed experts on human rights in Venezuela. “They are private experts who have lost their ways, who made a political and methodological error during the investigation.” He also revealed that they charged at least three million dollars for its preparation.

Mercenary report was based on secondary sources

In the alleged investigation sponsored by the Lima Group, they did not request a single piece of information from the national authorities. Lacking official data, the report that was presented at the UN cannot have any validity, the Foreign Minister denounced while revealing that they were based on publications on social networks and in national and international media servile to the world right, to defame the performance of the Bolivarian Government in the field of human rights.

“85 percent of the sources used by the alleged fact-checking commission are secondary. There are no relatives or testimonies. Only 15 percent is valid”, information that, he assured, should be in the hands of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet.

In contrast, the Report presented this Wednesday is based on totally official data, judicial sources, processes, sentences, resolutions, which are verifiable according to the social and scientific investigation procedures that govern the work of the human rights observatories of the UN.

Minister Arreaza said that the Report The truth of Venezuela against the infamy of the Lima Group will be presented to the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro Moros, who in turn, will deliver it to the UN Secretary General, António Guterres, in Thursday’s session, and will be taken to all the corresponding international bodies.

Protection and defense of human rights

During his speech, the Ombudsman, Alfredo Ruíz, reported that in the last 6 months, despite the Covid-19 pandemic, this institution has carried out more than 2,000 surveillance actions in detention centers, hospitals, PASI, in order to guarantee the human rights of those who are there.

He explained that, in addition, in the same period of time the Ombudsman’s Office has received more than 6 thousand people, complying with all biosafety measures, who had different claims of different kinds, for which he stressed that the Venezuelan Government works to prevent and, if they exist, punish possible violations of Human Rights.

“It is impressive how, for those who prepared this report, the human rights of some people are worth more than those of another”, he stressed while drawing attention to the fact that the aforementioned document obviates the attacks of which the police and National Guards were objects during the violent protests of 2017.
