Venezuela proposes the creation of a revolving fund at the UN to mitigate the effects of the economic blockade

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, proposed this Wednesday, during his speech at the General Debate of the 75th Period of Sessions of the UN General Assembly, the creation of a revolving fund for public purchases in the multilateral organization to guarantee -for the peoples affected by the coercive measures- access to food and health supplies.

The national president affirmed that this initiative would make it possible to face discrimination and economic blockade against the countries, making it easier for their governments to acquire the necessary goods and services.

He also called for strengthening policies and financing funds aimed at the development of production chains, and called for the creation of a bank of free technologies and universal training processes.

The UN must provide a global and coordinated response to support countries in need

On the other hand, the Head of State insisted on the approval of a legally binding international instrument on development and the right to development, “which reinforces the struggle of the peoples to overcome poverty and economic inequalities.”

In this regard, he asserted that the international community, as a whole, must provide a global and coordinated response that allows support to all nations in need, and create conditions to achieve stronger economies and more inclusive societies.

President Maduro also ratified the commitment of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to international, intercultural, constructive, and cooperative dialogue to promote the protection of all human rights, including the right to comprehensive development of peoples.
