Vice-president El Aissami: Our commitment to the OPEC+ Declaration of Cooperation is unalterable

“Our commitment to the OPEC+ Declaration of Cooperation is unalterable, it is firm; it is the only way to maintain the balance of the international market and to overcome the many challenges that we have today as a people”, said the Sector Vice-president for Economy and People’s Power Minister for Petroleum, Tareck El Aissami.

This was expressed during his speech at the 22nd Meeting of the Joint Monitoring Ministerial Committee (JMMC), held in Vienna, Austria, via videoconference, chaired by Abdulaziz Bin Salmán Al Saud, president of the Ministerial Committee for Joint Monitoring and Minister of Energy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; the Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation and co-chair of the Ministerial Joint Monitoring Committee, Alexander Novak; the Algerian Minister of Energy and President of the OPEC 2020 Conference, Abdelmadjid Attar; and the Secretary General of OPEC, Mohammad Barkindo.

Vice-president El Aissami highlighted the “cooperative work of OPEC+ that has allowed a historic level of compliance for the month of August 2020 of 101 percent”.

Perfect alliance

In the framework of the 60th anniversary of OPEC, El Aissami emphasized that this organization symbolizes a perfect alliance of cooperation that “has paved the way to preserve the foundations of its creation and has become an important balancing factor in the midst of the greatest challenge humanity has had with the Covid-19 pandemic”.

In this sense, the Vice-president reiterated that Venezuela, as a founding country, “will keep contributing to the construction of an even brighter, more interconnected future, assuming new blocks of complementarity, exchange, experiences, knowledge and technology that allow a shared growth of the countries and a sustainable development for the future of humanity “.

Finally, he expressed his greetings “to our fellow ministers and to our brother Mohammed Barkindo, OPEC secretary general, and to each of the OPEC workers for the effort and constant work they do every day. From Venezuela we say: OPEC is more future than past”, he concluded.
