Venezuela and Vietnam hold VIII Meeting of Bilateral Political Consultations

In the framework of the VIII Meeting of Bilateral Political Consultations Venezuela-Vietnam, held this Wednesday via videoconference, representatives of both governments addressed the broad cooperation agenda, the internal situation of each country regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and the context within this health crisis.

The videoconference was led by Rubén Darío Molina, Vice-minister for Asia, the Middle East and Oceania of the People’s Power Ministry for Foreign Relations of Venezuela, and the Permanent Vice-minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Bui Thanh Son.

During the meeting, they exchanged views on the international situation in the face of the pandemic, showing concern about the unilateral coercive measures imposed by countries against others, which undermine international law and inclusive multilateralism.

The diplomats reviewed the bilateral cooperation agenda in the areas of energy, agriculture, culture, sports, science and technology, tourism and investments, agreeing on the need to specify a roadmap to be developed between the parties and expressed in proposed agreements for the IV High Level Venezuela-Vietnam Mixed Commission, to be held in the first half of 2021.

Both parties reviewed the internal situation of each country, with emphasis on the pandemic and the success that their health strategies have had in controlling the disease, establishing exchange and support mechanisms to continue guaranteeing the health of their peoples against the new coronavirus.
