Venezuela and Angola strengthen relations in oil matters

The Vice-president of International Relations of Petróleos de Venezuela S.A. (PDVSA), Rander Peña, and the executive director of Sonangol Pesquisa & Produção, of the Republic of Angola, Ricardo Van-Deste, held a videoconference to analyze alternatives and advance in strengthening cooperation in the oil sector between both nations.

During the meeting, both officials exchanged experiences on the transformation processes currently implemented by PDVSA and Sonangol, with the aim of optimizing the operating processes of these two state-owned companies and concluded that the circumstances are conducive to launching joint cooperation initiatives in the various fields of oil activity, including the training of cadres.

The representatives of PDVSA and Sonangol highlighted the feeling of brotherhood between the peoples and governments of both countries, which represents a great stimulus to achieve mutual benefits in the shortest time possible and thus contribute to the improvement of the population’s life quality.

Venezuela and Angola signed an Oil Cooperation Agreement on August 31, 2006, during the visit to Luanda of the then-President Hugo Chávez and years later, in 2010, the Venangocupet joint venture was created, which operates in the Anzoátegui state. In addition, the two countries are members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), a multilateral arena where they share positions in defense of oil prices.
