President Nicolás Maduro denounced the U.S. has new plans to launch a media offensive against the Bolivarian Revolution.
The Venezuelan president urged the population to face this new aggression, announced by U.S. Special Representative for Venezuela Elliott Abrams.
In a virtual conversation sponsored by the Hudson Institute, Abrams confessed that as part of the plans to “pressure” the Venezuelan government, the Donald Trump’s administration is setting up a “media offensive.”
“We need to make sure anything we do does reach a wide audience in Venezuela,” said the U.S. official.
In this regard, President Maduro asserted that “they are trying to trigger something in Venezuela to assemble their lies, manipulation and sell an image that is not Venezuela’s (…) by lying about Venezuela, attacking and trying to convey a ‘truth’ that does not exist.”
The Venezuelan president invited the world’s mass media corporations to convey the truth about the real figures and measures against the COVID-19 pandemic in the region.
“They silence what’s happening in the United States, Brazil, Colombia, because their goal four months ago was to turn Venezuela into the pandemic’s epicenter,” pointed out President Maduro.
He also denounced that the international media has silenced the measures implemented by the Bolivarian Revolution to prevent and control the propagation of the virus in the country.
“I can see their evil intentions. They silence there’s a system called 7×7, 7 days of quarantine to keep us safe and break the transmission chains, and 7 days of flexibilization to boots economy,” he said.
“Venezuela is very powerful, miraculous and it is way beyond your manipulation, Elliott Abrams,” stated President Maduro.
