Dominica President sends his congratulations to Venezuela on the 209th anniversary of its independence

Through a letter, the president of the Commonwealth of Dominica extends his congratulations to the people and government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela for the celebration of Independence Day.

Here is the letter:

On behalf of the government and people of the Commonwealth of Dominica, also on my own and Mrs. Savarin’s, I extend my sincere good wishes and congratulations to Your Excellency, and to the government and people of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, on the occasion of the celebration of the anniversary of its Independence Day, on July 5, 2020.

The government and people of the Commonwealth of Dominica are saddened by the more than thirty deaths in Venezuela caused by the COVID-19 virus and the more than four thousand people infected.

Fortunately, more than 1,300 people have recovered, and have joined their families and communities. We sympathize with the government and the people of Venezuela for this loss of life, as each life is valuable, and we hope for the discovery of effective treatments and a vaccine.

Accept my best wishes of good health to you, Your Excellency, for the success in the fight against COVID-19 and other challenges you face, and for the prosperity of the people of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

Accept, Your Excellency, the guarantees of my highest
consideration.

Charles A. Savarin
President of the Commonwealth of Dominica

Your Excellency Nicolás Maduro
President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela
