Venezuela registers 117 COVID-19 community and 99 imported cases in last 24 hours

Vice-president of Communication, Culture and Tourism Jorge Rodríguez confirmed the detection of 117 COVID-19 cases due to community transmission and 99 imported cases for a total of 216 new cases in the last 24 hours.

Rodríguez explained that the new cases due to community transmission are distributed in Zulia (44), Sucre (18), Capital District (14), Bolívar (18), Lara (12), Aragua (4), Mérida (3), Carabobo (3) and La Guaira (1). Out of the imported cases, 65 come from Colombia, 28 from Brazil and 6 cases are due to contact with travelers from Colombia.

He also reported the deaths of a 56-yer-old man in Maracaibo, Zulia State, and a 53-year old man in the municipality of Baruta, Miranda State. The number of deaths due to coronavirus in Venezuela rose to 41.

Likewise, Communication Vice-president Rodríguez informed that the number of recovered patients remains at 1,327, representing 28% of total cases (4,779) in the country.

Out of the 3,411 active cases, 2,798 remain in sentinel hospitals, 574 in Comprehensive Diagnosis Centers, and 39 in private clinics.

Regarding the condition of patients, he reported that 2,967 of them are asymptomatic, 429 have developed mild respiratory insufficiency, 6 moderate respiratory insufficiency and 9 severe respiratory insufficiency.

Regarding the number of tests done, he explained that as of Wednesday, the Venezuelan health authorities have done 1,190,307 tests, which represents 39,677 tests per 1 million population.
