Venezuela to take legal actions against Spain’s ABC newspaper for libel

On Monday, June 15, Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs Jorge Arreaza accused Spain’s ABC newspaper, which he described as “old fake news with shameless sensationalism”, of being part of the factory of lies, defamation, deceit and slander that are manufactured by the international media to attack Venezuela.

In this regard, the foreign minister warned that Venezuela will take legal actions against Spain’s ABC newspaper for this and other media attacks against the country.

“The mythomania of the world’s right-wing media against Venezuela is an anti-journalistic anthology. They are a factory of lies, defamation, deceit and slander. They recycle fake news with shameless sensationalism. We will take legal action for this and other cases,” wrote Arreaza on this Twitter account @jaarreaza.

The Spanish newspaper, which features a right-wing editorial line and a fierce opposition against the Bolivarian Government, published a front-page false “information” and a photo of President Nicolás Maduro and Oil Minister Tareck El Aissami.

ABC newspaper claims “chavismo” financed  the Italian anti-establishment Five Star Movement (M5S) in 2010, when it allegedly sent 3.5 million Euros to the M5S via the Venezuelan Consulate in Milan.
