COVID-19 cases rise to 2,814 in Venezuela

COVID-19 cases in Venezuela rose to 2,814 after authorities registered 40 new imported cases from Brazil and Colombia and 36 due to community transmission, informed President Nicolás Maduro ar a briefing.

“Today we have to report 40 new imported cases from Brazil and Colombia, and we have 36 cases due to community transmission. I want to draw your attention here. Out of these 36 cases, 34 are from the hotspot of Las Pulgas market in Maracaibo,” explained the Venezuelan president.

Regarding the hotspot of Las Pulgas market, he warned that “it is still causing cases. All these cases are being taken care of in hospitals and Comprehensive Diagnosis Centers with due treatment.”

The Venezuelan president stressed that the National Public Health System has been taking care of this situation and doing thousands of tests, especially in Maracaibo due to the hotspot coming from Maicao.

“The other two cases due to community transmissions are a health official in Coche, Capital District, and a 13-year-old boy from Bolivar State, the son of a paramedic who transports Venezuelans from Brazil,” he said, warning that this virus is an invisible enemy.

“Now you can see how fast this invisible enemy spreads. Nobody should be overconfident. That’s why we have the 7×7,” said the Venezuelan president.

In his speech, Maduro stressed that Venezuela is the only country in the world receiving migrants back.

Venezuela receives “thousands of them. They are more than 60,000, and more than 40,000 by land. We have more than 8,000 patients strict quarantine in healthcare centers in San Antonio del Tachira. They are coming back through Apure state, Paraguachon, Amazonas state, Santa Elena de Uairen.”

“Venezuelan nationals coming from Colombia, and Ecuador on foot. Only our independence heroes did that. Today, Ivan Duque is desperate because he has not managed to infect Venezuela. He gives statements and lead a worldwide campaign against Venezuela.”

President Maduro made clear that “Venezuelans are returning according to the schedule and plan. They are all welcomed. We are providing them with a humanist treatment, and we will continue doing it.”

To the international press and news agencies, he said that Venezuela is welcoming all Venezuelans with its open arms because they are fleeing “coronavirus, corona-hunger”. They know “they have everything in their homeland.”
