Foreign Minister Arreaza: It is the duty of the Venezuelan State to denounce the imposition of unilateral coercive measures on a daily basis

During an interview with the radio program Sin Duda, led by journalist Mary Pili Hernández on the Unión Radio circuit, the People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations, Jorge Arreaza, contextualized how from 2014 to 2015, later, with the decree of the Former President Barack Obama, which describes Venezuela as an “unusual and extraordinary” threat to US security, initiated the illegal restrictions against the Latin American country.

The Venezuelan diplomat pointed out that there is a book by former President Obama’s adviser on “sanctions” that clearly sets out their objectives, which seek to cause pain to the people and thus impose a change of government.

“The United States has this formula against Venezuela, which has not worked, and has been exhausting those options that Donald Trump says that ‘are on the table’ but are in fact running out one after another. They don’t understand the popular movement in Venezuela, the Bolivarian Revolution, the Venezuelan people, including Chavism, who has endured, with much resistance and dignity, the shortcomings and pain that these measures have caused in our people in recent years”, he added.

For the Foreign Minister, it is a duty of the Venezuelan State to daily denounce the imposition of illegal sanctions before the Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres, before the General Assembly, before the Security Council, before the Human Rights Council, before the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, before her rapporteurs and specialists, and even before the International Criminal Court (ICC) where the application of unilateral coercive measures by the US government was denounced for constituting crimes against humanity.

“Our main function from the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry is to report almost in real time to all these organizations and governments in the world, and even to governments that are not friends of Venezuela, we also inform weekly of the events, attacks and latest attacks against our country”.

On the illegal retention of Venezuelan gold at the Bank of England, he pointed out that the bank is custody, not the owner of this resource. “This retention is absolutely inhuman, cruel, and criminal, that is why we have said that we are going to take this complaint to the ICC because they are crimes against humanity that are being committed against Venezuela”.

Foreign Minister Arreaza, regarding this matter, said that an agreement was reached with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) so that this money is not delivered to the Venezuelan Government, but to the UN and it makes the necessary purchases in humanitarian matters that Venezuela requires.
