Venezuela, Algeria build on post COVID-19 tourism, trade agreements
Minister of People’s Power for Tourism and Foreign Trade Félix Plasencia held a meeting on Tuesday, May 26, with Ambassador of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria to Venezuela Ghaouti Ben Moussat to review the historical, political and economic relations between the two countries, as well as the measures adopted by their governments in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the meeting, they expressed their conviction to protect their peoples from COVID-19 and its impact on economy and tourism, and highlighted international cooperation as the best way to boost these sectors that have been deeply affected by the sanitary crisis.
Therefore, Minister Plasencia stressed the Bolivarian Government’s determination to diversify its sources of foreign exchange income through the export of products such as coffee, cocoa, rum and avocado, among others, to new markers and ally countries like Algeria.
Finally,Venezuela’s Tourism and Foreign Trade minister expressed his interest in holding video conferences with his Algerian counterparts in order to learn about Algeria’s experience and policies amid the pandemic, devise a post COVID-19 joint cooperation route, and establish closer political, trade and economic ties.
