Foreign Minister Arreaza holds virtual dialogue with members of the US Council on Hemispheric Affairs
This Friday, the People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations, Jorge Arreaza, held a virtual dialogue with members of the United States Council on Hemispheric Affairs, an independent organization founded in Washington, DC, which seeks to constructively approach the foreign policy of the North American country to the peoples of Latin America.
Also participating was the Vice-minister for North America Carlos Ron.
During the videoconference, issues related to the current state of relations between the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the United States were addressed.
They also discussed the negative effect of the unilateral coercive measures applied by the Donald Trump administration in the framework of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It was a constructive dialogue on how Venezuela has carried this situation forward and how we should rethink relations between the two countries”, said Vice-minister Carlos Ron.
The Council on Hemispheric Affairs is one of the most respected nonprofit organizations in the United States; It does not subscribe to any political creed or maintain partisan loyalties, yet it supports the general ethical principles of defending human life and advocates for democratic institutions.
Its group of experts provides recommendations on a wide variety of topics such as poverty reduction, economic policy, environmental protection, and social inequality.
The organization defends human rights throughout the region, seeks to be a reliable source of information and analysis in the media and academic circles; finally it opposes all unilateral economic sanctions that violate international law.
