Ambassador Moncada denounces the British government’s support for the coup actions in Venezuela

The ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the United Nations (UN), Samuel Moncada, denounced on Wednesday the complicity of the British government in the “maximum pressure” operations against the Latin American country, in the midst of a global humanitarian crisis. The permanent representative at the UN shared, through his Twitter account @SMoncada_VEN, a publication of the British newspaper “The Canary” in which documents that reveal the existence of a “unit for the reconstruction of Venezuela” in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom are exposed. In the article published by the British media, the existence of the unit for the reconstruction of Venezuela is highlighted, as well as conversations between representatives of the United Kingdom and the stateless Venezuelan opposition, which detail the proposals for the promotion of British business after the hypothetical overthrow of the constitutional president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro. “Official British documents reveal the existence of a ‘unit for the reconstruction of Venezuela’ supposed to work with the same criminals who signed the colonial contract in the United States to assassinate thousands of Venezuelans. This is how a nation is looted!” Said the Venezuelan diplomat. Likewise, the article published by “The Canary” highlights the support that the UK government has systematically provided to the opposition Juan Guaidó, in the last 16 months; It further underlines that in the month of January 2019 the UK Commonwealth Foreign Ministry urged the Bank of England to grant Guaidó access to £ 1.2 billion of Venezuelan gold reserves. “Why is the British government robbing the Venezuelan people of hundreds of millions of dollars in gold using as an excuse the support of a criminal gang that pays for mercenaries? Because of its colonial ambition”, questioned the Venezuelan diplomat, referring to the evident support for the mercenaries hired by the Venezuelan opposition.
