COVID-19 cases rise to 381 in Venezuela

After detecting two new COVID-19 cases, the total number rose to 381 in Venezuela, informed Vice-president Delcy Rodriguez. At the Miraflores Presidential Palace, in Caracas, she explained that these two new cases, two women from Anzoategui State, were detected at the Comprehensive Social Care Post in Bolivar State as they returned from Brazil. The Venezuelan vice-president pointed out that the number of recovered patients rose to 185, representing 48.6% of reported cases since March 13. Out of the COVID-19 active cases, 97 remain in hospitals, 71 in Comprehensive Diagnosis Centers (CDIs) and 18 in private clinics. Regarding the condition of patients, there are 109 asymptomatic patients, 73 with mild respiratory insufficiency, 3 with moderate respiratory insufficiency and 1 patient in critical condition. Rodriguez stresses that 502,771 tests have been done nationwide, representing 16,759 tests per 1 million population. Referring to the survey “Analysis of COVID-19 quarantine and situation,” she pointed out that nearly 15 million Venezuelan have answered it on the online Patria System. In this regard, she said that the Presidential Commission for the Prevention and Control of Coronavirus (COVID-19) will present proposals to President Nicolas Maduro concerning alternative measures to social quarantine. “Tomorrow, we will present President Nicolas Maduro some proposals outlined and based on the epidemiological territorialization we have been studying in the streets, municipalities, states and across the country. We have also crossed them with economic sectors,” she added. Rodriguez stressed that the main goal is to preserve the health of the population and guarantee means of living to all Venezuelans. Return to Venezuela Vice-president Delcy Rodriguez highlighted that 29,193 Venezuelans have returned home through border zones. Out of the total number, 17,062 have returned through Tachira State; 5,917 through Apure State; 4,517 through Zulia State and 1,697 through Bolivar State.
