Venezuela registers 29 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours

Venezuela has registered 29 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours in the states of Nueva Esparta (21) and Miranda (5), as well as 3 cases of citizens returning from Colombia for a total of 256 COVID-19 cases nationwide, informed Sunday night the Sectorial Vice President of Communication, Culture and Tourism Jorge Rodriguez. Likewise, Rodríguez highlighted that the extended and personalized screening to rule out and detect potential cases is still underway, based on the data collected online via the Patria system, where 18,637,699 citizens have registered, and 167,119 out of them have already been visited as they reported different flu-like symptoms. He pointed out that Venezuela is ranking first as the Latin American country that has done more tests per 1 million inhabitants. “As of today, we have done more than 300,000 tests. There is no Latin American country doing more tests than we are,” he said. Venezuela’s COVID-19 cases are aged between 20 and 59 years old. Out of the 256 cases, 135 are men and 121 are women. Rodríguez called on the Venezuelan population to follow the guidelines issued by the Bolivarian Government in order to break and avoid the propagation of coronavirus. “Let’s comply with the regulations of quarantine. Let’s respect the duty of civilian officials and military officers,” he urged. Worldwide, 2,403,380 COVID-19 cases, 616,553 recovered patients and 165,658 deaths have been registered.
