Human rights organizations in Argentina condemn new US imperial aggression against Venezuela and demand an end to economic blockades

Human Rights Organizations of the Republic of Argentina issued a joint statement, demanding the lifting of the blockades imposed by the United States government against Venezuela and Cuba, while condemning the military exercises deployed in the Caribbean by the maximum imperial power that “once again, intends with its actions to ignore the principle of non-interference and the right of self-determination of the Venezuelan people”. Here is the full statement: The undersigned Human Rights organizations, in circumstances so burdensome today for all humanity, call for the cooperation and solidarity of all the governments and peoples of the world, to face the pandemic that has struck the planet and that threatens and affects us all without exception. As unyielding defenders of Human Rights, in this harsh context, we fight for the lifting of any economic-financial blockade and of any other kind, such as those suffering in the region by the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Republic of Cuba. Blockades that can be classified as crimes against humanity by plunging the peoples who suffer them into unprecedented humanitarian crises. We denounce that the United States of America at this time, in the Venezuelan case, is carrying out a series of actions with the intention of being able to “justify” at some point a military intervention in that brother country, without even considering the very serious effects that this would cause in our entire geography, and even more in the midst of an unprecedented health catastrophe. In a new attempt, in this case, to increase the current isolation of Venezuela, and to charge its highest authorities with serious crimes, the US government, in the framework of the offensive that it is carrying out against the government of Nicolás Maduro arranged to start joint military exercises – naval, air and land – involving the region, with the help of some allied governments and the scandalous silence of the international community. We strongly condemn this new aggression by the maximum imperial power that once again intends with its actions, to ignore the principle of non-interference and the right of self-determination of the Venezuelan people, contrary to norms of International Law to which all States, without exception, are forced, particularly at a crucial moment like the one that humanity is going through today.
