Venezuela stands in solidarity with U.S. people amid COVID-19 sanitary crisis

Venezuela sent on Friday, April 10, a message of solidarity to the U.S. people in the face of their COVID-19 serious sanitary emergency that has caused the death of nearly 18,664 people in that country. The Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez felt sorry for the dramatic images of mass graves on Hart Island, New York, to bury the victims of the new coronavirus.
“President Nicolás Maduro has expressed his solidarity with the U.S. people amid this situation of truly sanitary and humanitarian crisis caused by the pandemic, whose epicenter moved to that country,” she said at the Miraflores Presidential Palace, in Caracas.
According to BBC Mundo, Hart Island has been used for 150 years as a mass cemetery for people without family or friends to bury them. The United States is the country registering the highest number of COVID-19 cases with 501,272, 27,239 out of which have recovered and 18,664 have died. New York City records the highest number of cases with 172,358 according to figures released on Worldometer. The COVID-19 most affected countries are Spain (158,273), Italy (147,577), France (124,869) and Germany (122,171). Notwithstanding, the World Health Organization (W.H.O.) highlights the rise of COVID-19 recovery rates in European countries.
“The W.H.O. has highlighted Europe’s recovery rate. This should encourages us, and we should greet the fraternal people in Europe,” said Rodriguez.
