Bolivarian Government activates Conviasa flight for the return of 154 foreigners via Mexico

154 foreign citizens, including Americans, who were under pressure in the country, benefited this Thursday through the special flight enabled by the state airline Conviasa to Toluca, Mexico; so that they can, from this city, manage their connection to their country of origin. From the “Simón Bolívar” International Airport, Carlos Ron, Vice-minister for North America of the People’s Power Ministry for Foreign Relations, stressed that this special flight responds to the request for collaboration expressed by these foreigners to the Bolivarian Government to return to their homes, in the midst of the global health crisis generated by the Covid-19 pandemic. “Unfortunately, a direct flight to the United States could not be offered, due to unilateral coercive measures that the US government has imposed on the Conviasa airline and direct flights from Venezuela”, the diplomat stressed.

He indicated that the goverment will keep looking for alternatives to return to the Homeland more than a thousand Venezuelans who are stranded in the United States, whose government has been adamant on lifting the coercive measure that prohibits Conviasa from landing in its territory. The Vice-minister for North America insisted on the call to the Donald Trump administration to lift those illegal coercive measures, which contravene international law and affect the entire population of the country without distinction of any kind. The president of Conviasa, Ramón Velásquez Araguayán, showed the epidemiological control protocols that the airline follows during the boarding and inside the plane, to detect positive cases of Covid-19 and stop the spread of the virus.
