Chinese specialist: social quarantine is the most effective method to stop the Covid-19

“Social quarantine is an effective and important method to curb a pandemic that is moving so fast in a short time”. This was stated by the head of the group of eight Specialist Doctors of the People’s Republic of China, Huang Mao, who arrived last Monday in support of Venezuela to face the world health crisis, and yesterday afternoon held a fruitful meeting with the Presidential Commission for Prevention, Attention and Control for Covid-19, in the Miraflores Palace. In this space, Dr. Mao specified that the success in containing virus contagions was the limitation in contact, also known as social distancing. It is extremely important to “detect -as soon as possible- who are infected and cut off communication with the rest of society”, in order to flatten the virus contamination curve. There are three stages to combat the pandemic: containment measures, the use of strategies in which the contagion chains are broken in order to finally reach the final control of infections. In this line, he assessed that Venezuela is in the second stage of the phases -which includes the control and reduction of diagnosed cases-. “It is now seen that the method is having positive results in Venezuela”, said the specialist from the Asian nation. On the other hand, he assured that the humanitarian bridge between China and Venezuela allows to expand knowledge and increase joint experience in order to build a common destiny, where the salvation of life is more important than economic interests. To date, Venezuela registers 144 cases of Covid-19 infection, of which 43 patients have been recovered.
