In the early hours of Monday, a team of experts in the prevention and control of Coronavirus (Covid-19) and a shipment of medical supplies from the People’s Republic of China arrived at Maiquetía Simón Bolívar International Airport, within the framework of the cooperation and epidemiological accompaniment established between the Bolivarian Government with the Asian giant to face the pandemic that accumulates 129 confirmed cases in the national territory.
The reception of the delegation was in charge of the People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations, Jorge Arreaza; the Peole’s Power Minister for Health, Carlos Alvarado; the People’s Power Minister of Economy and Finance, Simón Zerpa, and the Chinese ambassador to Venezuela, Li Baorong.
Foreign Minister Arreaza noted that the shipment that arrived from China includes material purchased by the Bolivarian Government and a donation from Jiangsu province, and includes biological protection suits, gloves, masks, ultrasound equipment, oxygen masks, face shields, probes, respirators, infrared thermometers and 500 thousand rapid tests for the extended and personalized screening that is being carried out house by house, through the survey that is applied through the Homeland System.
Likewise, Ambassador Li Baorong said that the team of experts arriving from his country is a sign of affection and brotherhood, because when the Chinese people were in a difficult moment in the battle against Covid-19; President Maduro, Vice-president Delcy Rodríguez, ministers, and all of Venezuela, offered solidarity and firm support to the Chinese government and people, so “we always keep them in our hearts and we will never forget them”.
He stated that China highly appreciates the effective measures taken by the Venezuelan government to preserve the life and health of its people. “Even in the face of severe, inhumane and criminal unilateral sanctions, it has achieved important successes”, he stressed.
Chinese experts agenda.
The work schedule envisaged with the commission of experts includes introductory meetings with Minister Alvarado, Venezuelan specialized personnel, and the Presidential Commission for Monitoring, Control and Prevention of Covid-19, created by President Nicolás Maduro, and coordinated by the Executive Vice-president, Delcy Rodríguez.
A training and orientation day is also scheduled for the Venezuelan government entities and medical institutions on the treatment of patients with symptoms at a mild and medium level.
The strategic partnership with the People’s Republic of China has been key on keeping the spread of the virus flat as well as the care of confirmed patients in the nation.
