More than 500 Venezuelans in the US register to return to the country on a flight offered by the Bolivarian Government

Within hours of activating the online registration this Monday, more than 500 Venezuelans who are in a dire situation in the United States due to the contingency generated by Covid-19, filled out the form to qualify for the repatriation benefit the Bolivarian Government offers, informed the People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations, Jorge Arreaza, through his Twitter account @jaarreaza. “We have made requests to the US government and await a response. It is a direct, humanitarian and free flight, like all of the #PlanVueltaALaPatria”, the Foreign Minister detailed in his message. The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro Moros, also addressed this issue in telephone contact with the “World in Context” program, which is broadcasted by Venezolana de Televisión: “We opened a special web site of the Foreign Ministry, 524 Venezuelans registered in the US. I have the planes, I only wait for the authorizations of the American authorities to go to look for them direct to the USA, totally free, without paying anything, to bring them back to Venezuela and here to provide them with health protection and to properly comply with all protocols”. The Venezuelan government asked the US administration on Monday to allow a special flight by the state airline Conviasa to return to the country the nationals who are stranded in the United States, as a result of the suspension of commercial flights as an epidemiological measure to stop the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic.
