Vice-president Rodríguez: Venezuela begins to use Chloroquine for prophylactic treatment
The Vice-president of Communication, Culture and Tourism, Jorge Rodríguez, offered statements this Monday, from the “Simón Bolívar” Press Room of the Miraflores Palace, in Caracas, to report on the coordinated action by the National Government in the scientific, technical order and operation that is carried out to combat the Coronavirus Covid-19 throughout the national territory.
He started waving at the screens wearing a mask and said:
“Very good afternoon to all the good people of Venezuela, and a happy lunch for everyone. I’m going to allow myself to take off my mask to talk to you”.
He immediately recalled what was stated by the Constitutional President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro Moros, in an address to the country this Sunday, referring to the four basic elements to combat the virus:
1.- Assume social isolation and quarantine as the only instrument to combat the exponential curve.
2.- Carry out the extended and personalized screening, house by house, to go in search of patients who have any symptoms.
3- Guarantee of the endowment of the entire therapeutic arsenal to face the Coronavirus, as in other countries.
4.- The State has the ability to receive other cases that may arise.
He informed that the Venezuelan Head of State decided that chloroquine treatment will be given, orally, to those infected and close contacts of these, as well as to the health personnel who attend the cases of isolated patients and treated in health centers, Venezuela is becoming the first country to start using Chloroquine for prophylactic treatment.
Vice-president Rodríguez, reported that 97% of the countries present cases of Covid-19 and specified that to date, 337,469 people have been reported worldwide with Coronavirus, with a figure of 14,467 deaths and emphasized that “this pandemic is ravaging the world , but it mainly attacks governments that make the decision to disregard social isolation and it is a true tragedy that threatens life on the planet”.
He noted that “to date, Venezuela reports a total of 77 cases and there are no deaths, which is why the Social and Collective Quarantine is to control the infected curve to avoid hospitalizations and prevent deaths from Covid-19” he explained.
Survey of daily update
The people of Venezuela have the Patria platform that allows more than 20 million people to interact with the Bolivarian Government.
All the symptoms appear in a survey, with their updates, to verify new cases. “At this time, more than 11 million people have answered the survey”.
Rodríguez invited the people to enter the address www.patria.org.ve to update the situation, He pointed out that 11 million 605 thousand 744 people have answered, which allowed the Medical Mission members to visit 18 thousand 265 people, making it conducive for the people to express “thanks to Commander Fidel Castro and Commander Hugo Chávez, as well as to Cuban and Venezuelan doctors for the work”.
He reiterated that if anyone knows someone who has not yet entered the Homeland System: recommend them to do so, because in this way, from the quarantine, we contribute to the health and well-being of everyone.
Before the blockade we will beat the Covid-19
“Let the people of Venezuela have no doubts that even if that criminal blockade persists, we are not only going to beat but we are already overcoming the epidemic of Covid-19. We then insist on quarantine”.
As well as maintaining and complying with medical asepsis in the set of methods applied to conserve sterility and care for materials and equipment, the Sector Vice-president for Communication, Culture and Tourism, Jorge Rodríguez, concluded his statements by saying:
“We are also in the markets, on the streets, on the boulevards, in the squares, disinfecting with calcium hypochlorite, and putting chlorine in the streets, which is a disinfection mechanism that has been shown to work well against the Covid-19 virus. But the most important thing is that you stay at home, that you comply with the collective and social quarantine; that this quarantine, the more people stay at home, the less time it will last, and much faster we will bring down this virus, the Covid-19, which currently threatens all of humanity”.
